As part of Wayne State University's 94th Annual Spring Dance Concert - On the Horizon: A Tribute to Maggie Allesee, Dr. RAS Mikey C will be performing songs from his latest release THIN LINE, along with choreography created in collaboration with the students of WSU Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance. This repertory will be a mini edutainment production that will explore themes of social justice and human equality, while illustrating ways of bridging the gap between concert art and commercial entertainment. THIN LINE is a cinematic soundtrack of the times and Dr. RAS' third project with his producer Kenny Allen. The message asks ‘How Long does it take to get to freedom on this Holiday of Expectation? Knowing there is a Thin Line between use abuse, Still We Breathe.’ Special costuming is designed by HOJ & DJS Lifestyles, and the final song will feature dancers from Detroit Academy of Arts & Sciences.
‘Know More’ is a Social Justice themed Freshman Repertory work created in collaboration with the performers from Wayne State University's Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre & Dance, under the direction of Assistant Professor of Dance, Dr. RAS Mikey C. The work expresses the students' perspectives through their own voice and movements as they exercise their right to continue the conversation on racial inequities in our society.
